Landria: The Founder, Designer & Mastermind
The Sassy Olive exists because of Landria’s vision, creativity, and relentless determination. What started as a simple frustration with headbands that wouldn’t stay put turned into a full-scale handmade headband business that has made its mark far beyond Downtown Allegan.
A University of Michigan graduate with a background in Hospital and Molecular Epidemiology, Landria took her scientific precision, artistic talent, and business instincts and built something completely her own. She started sewing in her parents’ basement, perfecting designs that didn’t just look good but actually worked. Now, she leads a thriving team, designs fabric patterns, and prints them at The Sassy Olive.
Beyond running the business, Landria has used her platform to support small businesses, advocate for inclusivity, and champion creative entrepreneurship. Her passion for originality, self-expression, and creativity is at the heart of everything The Sassy Olive creates.
Nellie: The Road Warrior & Digital Wizard
You might not always see Nellie in the shop, but she’s the engine behind The Sassy Olive’s online presence and traveling storefront. As the one who built and maintains the website, Nellie keeps the business running smoothly behind the scenes—managing marketing, logistics, and operations with precision and purpose.
Living the van life, she travels the country to craft shows and boutique events, pitching handmade headbands to shops far and wide. On weekends, you’ll often find her at markets selling headbands—and during the in-between moments, she’s exploring nature trails, rock climbing in stunning places, and hiking with her dog, Ladybug.
With a love for structure, organization, and strategy, Nellie brings balance to Landria’s bold creative vision. She thrives on creating systems that support big ideas—and The Sassy Olive has given her the freedom to do what she does best while living the life she loves.
Katie: The Heart of the Store
Katie is the foundation of The Sassy Olive’s retail team, making sure that every employee walks in feeling prepared, supported, and set up for success. She has a rare ability to see what others might miss, noticing when someone needs extra support and stepping in before they even have to ask.
She creates a workplace where people feel comfortable, confident, and valued—which is no small thing. The best teams aren’t just about skills, but about how people show up each day. Thanks to Katie, our team walks in knowing they have someone in their corner. She keeps everything running smoothly, supports each of us in ways big and small, and makes sure that when customers walk through the door, they’re met with the best version of The Sassy Olive—because she’s helped make that possible.
